it's been a long time since we posted any entries here.
as the ct of your class i admit that i havent been doing very much to bond us together.
we are not united at all if we were to compare to classes like a12. haha
so let us work together, we still have one year plus ahead of us and i believe you all want to leave vjc enjoying it not hating it =D

Hi A15,

these are the questions that you asked me and I found out from Mr Tang the following answers. Pay 100% attention to the wording of the answers and don't ask me any obvious questions...

1. Does it affect the "Generation of ideas" score you get if another person in another class has the same idea (assuming that both had the same idea without talking to each other)

AND if the same marker is marking the two different classes?

No, It doesn't matter. Definitely not for Process since one teacher is ST for 1 class only. However, it may and can affect the assessors impression of 'creativity' and 'originality' if s/he reads many similar ideas.

2. Under manageability, does it mean:
--they have to finish the planning of the event OR
--they have to finish the execution of the event?

No, they do not need to execute the event, but their planning cannot be superficial. Isn't this already stated in the QP?

3. Do they have to be involved in the event for real or do they just have to propose the event?
Would it gain them more marks if they actually execute the event?

In theory not necessary, but from past PW, groups that actually execute the real event, almost always have real data and very strong substantiating and evidence to score well. But we also don't want students to spend too much time and effort when they don't really mean to, because it shows.

hey A15,

while we are very sorry to lose Cassandra, Enid and Jessica to A14, we are happy that they have a better timetable. Stay in touch, ya? I will miss Cassandra's "happy-go-lucky" zoned out look, Enid's slightly worried expression when I'm suanning her (kidding) and Jessica's sweet smile.

That said, let's welcome Tingkai. Don't play play, he's super pro at Chinese and a very friendly chap, from what I've seen.

And after seeing Risk, a student movie by Southeast CDC youth unit, I realised that Serena was in it after seeing the credits. Confirmed with Nadia of A12 that Serena is indeed in the movie. Way to go.

Know that term 2 is starting, I am reminded of the first game A15 played as a class, at the beginning of term 1, when the class achieved the seemingly impossible--passing the ball through everyone's hand in 4 seconds? i think that A15 is capable of so many more "impossible" and more important achievements, if we ALL support one another. the mutual support has wavered quite a bit as seen in O2 but what's past is gone. we can do better now.

O2 Day Two Briefing

Good evening class,

it is disappointing that so little of you to turn up to welcome the second intakers today, and even worse when we and Jon were the only a15 ppl left (Jess was somewhr out thr). Please do exercise the Victorian Spirit, especially tomorrow when the OGs will cease to exist and 2nd intakers are split into respective CTs. Its very miserable for the Arts Fac's OG Atlantis to be the last OG group today as there were too little JC1s left.

Scribe: You are suppose to wear COLLEGE/SCHOOL uniform tomorrow and report to LT at norm assembly time. Bring along yr YJ PE ATTIRE as well as a black tee for girls as wet games WILL be played if you are supportive enough to take part in the activities before the split. Also bring along an empty 1.5 litre water bottle. Please take note that you DO NOT belong to Atlantis but the respective OGs that you are being allocated to. We shall be playing games tomorrow and Jon, WenWen and me will try to facilitate the game sessions. We will be playing games as followed: Concentration, Whacko, Lucky Number, Memory as well as the suggested TSD games, in no fixed order. A class dinner has been suggested after OG2 which ends at 5 tomorrow to allow the newcomers to feel belonging to the class.

OGLs: Report to PT at 7:15 and gather with fellow Atlanticans. Sharp.

We want to try as much as possible to make the newcomers feel at home. Our JC2s OGLs did a brilliant job two months ago and this time, not just the 3 of us but the entire class should come down to support the activities, despite the fact that O2 is strictly speaking not compulsory. Please have the VJ spirit up in your head, deep in your heart and all over you.

*for those who miss mr. ho's vjc life talk today, vjc students are suppose to follow a set of guidelines consisting of 9 sets of different forms of school-based activities from sports to aesthetics to academics. this to promote all rounded education and hence too a better student portfolio as well as nicer testimonials. you are encouraged to take on ccas of different forms as such. for demanding ccas be it sports or aesthetic wise, you are encouraged to participate in activities on your own basis to fill in the blank. this concerns your student profiling so please take it seriously. thank you.

hey A15,

yes, the results are super important and you have made so many good friends and it would super suck to be torn away just because of a lousy cut-off point but the system can't be beat yet.

last week's sunday times (yesterday) revealed that PropNex's top earner earned $800K a year. And he has only A-levels. He didn't go to Uni but he's outearning at least half the doctors and lawyers out there. And his passive income is probably way beyond theirs as well.

The thing is, he loves what he's doing, and he's great at it. and the service he offers is highly in demand and lucrative. so, don't think that less-than-perfect results will doom you forever and forever. they hurt, sure. but they don't kill. unless you let them.

I resent the cut-off point but that's not going to change the system. i hate the thought that some of you may have to go to other JCs but there's not much I can do to change that, despite glowing appeal support letters, because honestly, it's the points that talk under this system.

Seriously, the O-levels are just a very blurry picture of your true capabilities. It's just a stupid sprint. The A-levels are a marathon and a better test of your "fitness". Believe you are a much better student than your score says. Because you are.

temperature taking exercise 23 Feb Friday

Hey 15,

It will happen during assembly tomorrow, so remember to bring your thermometers. DON'T think of SHARING. *grossed out* haha.

(1) CTs confirm the students are present and they have their individual
oral digital thermometers (ODT).

(2) CT will then ask students to take their own ORAL temperature and record
on the CT name list. For this exercise, we will not issue/use the
Individual Temperature Logbook.
(see slides below on correct temperature taking and recording).

(See attached file: Temperature Taking 2006[Sec].ppt)

(3) The trigger temperature reading is 37.6 deg C and above. If a student
hits the trigger temperature, ask him/her for a second temperature reading.
Record the 2nd reading and if it is still a trigger temperature, he/she
must be pulled to one side and isolated - meaning, sent to the designated
informatory and CTs call parents to pick up their child.
For this exercise, we will not isolate students with trigger temperatures
or call their parents.

(4) After this, students will return to class for lessons. CTs will submit
the student attendance nos and the names of students with trigger
temperatures to the Admin Office immediately after assembly.

Sports Day

I urge everybody in class to participate in sports day to win house points for URSA... Just go in and whack an event that you are most confident in--for girls like the discus which wen^2 n xtine are doing or the short distance runs...points are awarded for participation alone.
I myself will be taking part in the 400m hurdles and 5kilo run so e other two guys please do sign up too...especially for the tougher events such as hurdling as I heard more house points are awarded. There are terribly little guys from URSA taking part and in fact Im the only URSA guy doing 400m hur so please just go in and whack an event... dun care about ppl like hansen and eujinn...you can still aim for bronze...
And yes...please run 8k with me at east coast everyday if you are bored by the endless free periods or long days... I hope to own the ppl by sports day next month...

1. First I congratulate the class on performing so well. 2nd intake for VJC especially 07A15 wil be hard as almost all of us here is staying for good.
2. Second I want to thank all those who lent their hands to me during the URSA banner...especially Leanne and Saira(No thanks for painting on our limbs)It looks really nice and the fact that we completed in an afternoon makes us really proud.
3. I wish to ask everyone still interested to join my Outsiders club to inform me asap.
We need a -photographer/videographer
-sound engineer (for back-masking and sound-management when uncovering possibly haunted places which is one of the places we'll explore)
-a front-of-the-house representative for enquiring accessibility of places and publicity
-a spirit medium (unimportant...I dun wan to sound like we r forming SPI@VJC)
-and lastly people who r totally crazy about exploring unknown, crazy, fun and scary places in Singapore.
The concept was put together after an initial failure to just start a culture appreciation club due to obvious lack of interest.
Our newly drawn up list of activities will include the elusive thief's market, hidden smuggler's route to malaysia, hidden sculpture graveyard of Haw Par Villa(said to be scary n out of bounds to public) , as well as visits to places during special occasions such as vesak day visit to BrightLight Hill.
Pls tell me asap if you wanna join as I intend to get everything settled and set up a CCA booth during 2nd intake.
4. Victorian's secret pls take note of the mon slot...its very crucial for the snrs.

AONEFIVE KIDS LISTEN UP!!

Okay we are soooo behind compared with the other classes we need to catch up!!
We have to
1. Paint class board for CNY.
2. Paint class banner for URSA.
3. Rehearse for SLV which is on Weds.
And we have not done any of the above. !!! This calls for panic, okay.

But nvm! All you people reading this right now please be in schl by 730AM AM AM AMMMMMM tomorrow okay! And don't pretend you didn't see this and come at a glorious 8AM (cos there's no assembly right?) okay! Because Big Brother is watching you. *insert evil eyebrows
Oh what the heck. We really need to rehearse for SLV so please please PLEASE. Please come early. We only have two more chances to rehearse: tmr mrng and Weds mrng. Come on people!!
And em. Class board and class banner. Tmr during the one hour break/ two hour break (for those who don't take Geog/ oh and during Chi too) we'll split the class into half. Half will paint the class board in the art room and the other half will go down to the designated painting area and paint the URSA banner, okay! Okay. Tmr we'll divide the class to do these two jobs.

For those who haven't been watching the news/listening to the radio/whatever -

It's official, folks. The O-level results are going to be released this Friday, 9 February 2007. Go here for more details.

Not Wednesday, not Thursday - Friday. Apparently all that talk about how the results can't come out on a Friday because of the whole release of A-level results clashing with Chinese New Year celebrations issue was just that - talk. *nods*

Which basically translates to there not being any lessons on Friday! Yay! :D

Anyhow, the principal will probably be making an announcement about this tomorrow morning, so do listen out during assembly! Today's speech was terribly confusing, what with all the bewilderment over Days One and Two and whatnot. So hopefully we'll all be much more clearer about how things are supposed to go soon.

Having a gr8 weekend everybody? Okay, an announcement to make...me and Anthony,an IP student also taking fine arts will be forming a new cca either called adventure club or culture appreciation society. Basically we will organize interesting learning journeys for club members during special occasions. Basically it was thought out when the two of us went for the thaipusan learning journey. Learning journeys are such as a visit to Guangming Shan or Bright Light Hill, the biggest Buddhist monastery in Singapore during Vesak day and also trips to ulu ulu places of S'pore ppl know nothing about despite living 17 years of their lives here such as Sungei Theif's Market and the hidden graveyard of sculptures in Haw Par Villa.

You can show your support by joining us as an ADHOC to organise such trips or just as a member to follow us on such trips. We promise a fun and eventful learning journey everytime.

Ending message... not all bad boys are not helpful. I'm still looking for people to join my external volunteer organisation The Finger Players...a theatre organisation which is devoted to the establishment of a new and modernised form of Chinese puppetry in Singapore. We will also take on volunteer activities such as the ongoing Habitat for Humanity programme during weekends(not compulsory) and be happy helping the needy despite getting hit by shit from broken sewage pipes. Pardon my crude language but that's exactly what happened to me previously... haha everyone! dont forget our welcome "act" for the new guy.

lets all support the future sc people so that sc will be ruled by the arts faculty!

ok so we have to paint the ursa banner, chinese new year board, rehersal the last time for the metta home [ we can just improvise on that day haha you guess don't want to spend too much time on it ].
